New OAC Climbing Survey

The Ontario Access Coalition (OAC) is asking climbers to fill out a new survey which gathers information on climbers’ spending habits. The OAC will use the information during access negotiations to demonstrate climbers’ responsible behaviour and positive economic impact. A similar approach has been successfully used to gain or maintain access in areas like the Red River Gorge, the Gunks and the New River Gorge. The economic windfall climbers provide often comes with very little investment from local business or chambers of commerce as the infrastructure necessary for climbing is minimal and, like other forms of adventure-tourism, easily sustainable. Documenting the financial benefits for the parks and communities near established Ontario climbing areas may positively influence future climbing access. Please fill in the survey here.
