NCC Bans Climbing In Gatineau Park

The National Capital Commission (NCC) has released their land management plan for Gatineau Park and the recommendations are grim news for climbers. The plan effectively bans all climbing except for a small area in the centre section of the Home Cliff, Eastern Block and the Twin Ribs. All other established areas will be closed and new route development will be banned leaving the park with only 40 to 50 routes open for climbing. The plans also effectively bans ice climbing within the park. More details here and here.
