Ontario Climbing Federation Seeks Formal Recognition and Funding

The recently formed non-profit Ontario Climbing Federation (OCF) will pursue government recognition as a provincial sport organization. The OCF hopes that this formal recognition will further legitimize competition climbing and allow the organization to access government funding for competition climbers. If successful, the OCF could help offset the huge costs Ontario competition climbers and their families incur when travelling to national and international competitions. Along with this, the OCF will offer the following services:

  • Help organize and sanction competitions in Ontario,
  • Provide training for coaches, judges and route setters.
  • Offer support for gyms hosting climbing competitions.
  • Promote the sport of climbing.
