The North Face Psicobloc Open Series Comes To Montreal

The North Face is sponsoring Canada’s first Psicobloc climbing competition and it's open to all climbers. The event takes place in Montreal during the weekend of August 23, 2018, and features a 55-foot tall wall, a $20,000 divided purse and $40,000 worth of prizes. Unlike many European pro-only Psicobloc comps, this series is open to all climbers and encourages climbers to try the sport for the first time. The weekend-long competition takes place at Parc Jean-Drapeau Aquatic Complex and all spectators and competitors will have full access to the park’s activities.

Psicobloc is an extreme form of climbing where two competitors race up an overhanging wall above a deep-water pool. The climbers do not use ropes and any mistakes result in dramatic falls into the pool below. The sport is already established in Europe and is now gaining popularity North America.
